Bobby Ford is a former college basketball player and member of the Bradley University Sports Hall of Fame. From there, he went on to play professionally in Europe. While in Ireland, he also coached professional teams as well as boys and girls youth teams.
Currently, in addition to coaching youth teams and hosting conditioning and training camps, Coach Ford serves as Executive Director of Sharon Healthcare Woods, a Specialized Mental Health Recovery Facility.
As a young man, Coach Ford asked his grandmother, "What should I be when I grow up?" His grandmother's reply of, "Just Be Somebody!" became Coach Ford's lifelong motto, and as a coach, he firmly believes in stressing the importance of education and using basketball as a vehicle to attain that education.
Coach Ford has worked with young people for over 25 years. both coaching and mentoring. He feels that basketball benefits all players by helping them develop characteristics that they will be able to use throughout their lives such as: teamwork, time management, respect, determination, leadership, accountability, and trust. These qualities reinforce and promote the motto that Coach Ford strives to pass on to everyone he works with. "Just Be Somebody."
